At St Nick’s, our work with children and young people is rooted in the transformative love of God revealed in Jesus Christ. We believe in a radical welcome — an open invitation for all to encounter the joy, challenge, and deep relationship that comes from knowing God. Through scripture, worship, prayer, and shared experiences, we aim to nurture young lives in a way that reflects God’s generous love and the work of the Holy Spirit among us.

For our youngest children and their families, Play & Praise offers a warm and lively toddler group every Tuesday morning in term time — with play, toys for all ages, snacks, songs, and ride-on fun in a safe and friendly space.

We also welcome local schools into the life of the church through special events. At Easter and Christmas, we host interactive learning experiences such as Easter storytelling, Christingle, and Crib services, all rooted in the Bible’s message. Our annual Summer Family Fun Day brings the whole community together with crafts, play areas, films, and more — a celebration of God’s love in action.

For older children, Allestree Youth Group meets on Tuesday evenings during term time, offering secondary school-aged young people a space to relax, have fun, and build friendships through games, pool, table tennis, consoles, and a tuck shop — all in a safe, welcoming environment hosted by St Nick’s.

In all we do, we hope to create opportunities for young people to encounter God’s love, be challenged by Jesus’ call, and discover a faith that enhances life — locally and beyond.

Play n Praise

New day from September 2026: Wednesday's 9.30-10.45am.

Join us every Wednesday during term time from 9::30–10:45am for Play & Praise — a welcoming toddler group for children aged 0 to school age. It’s a warm and friendly space where little ones can play safely, explore a wide variety of toys, enjoy snacks, sing songs, and end the morning with our ever-popular ride-on time! We have a donation station available (cash or card) to help support the group.

Allestree Youth Group

New day from September: Wednesdays 3.30-5pm in the church.

Allestree Youth Group is a vibrant, welcoming space for secondary school-aged young people, meeting every Wednesday during term time at St Nicholas’ Church. Hosted by St Nick’s, the group offers a fun mix of activities including pool, table tennis, card and board games, games consoles, and a popular tuck shop. It’s a great place to relax, hang out with friends, and be part of a supportive community.

Sunday Breakfast @ 10

Start your Sunday with breakfast, community, and a fresh take on faith! We're exploring different themes throughout the year that has something for all ages with a short thought for the day after breakfast, followed by different spaces to connnect with that months theme. All welcome - come hungry for food and faith!

Breakfast will be served from 9.45am.

Other Events

Our Ministry Team regularly visits local primary schools to lead collective worship and support their religious education curriculum. During the week before Easter, schools are invited to St Nick’s to explore the story of Holy Week through interactive learning about Jesus' betrayal, arrest, death, and resurrection. At Christmas, we host Christingle and Crib Services that celebrate the season with joy and reflection. In the summer, our Family Fun Day brings the whole community together with a bouncy castle, toddler area and soft play, crafts, story and film room, and a vibrant community café.
